What the middle means
You open a market. It reads 67¢. And it’s easy to assume someone decided that — set it, the way a shop sets a price, and is quietly hoping you read it wrong.
Drop the assumption. There’s nobody behind that curtain.
That 67¢ is the middle — and the middle is the one thing on majjha that nobody hands you. It’s what a whole room agrees on when everyone in it has already called a side. Not a number set for you. A number made by all of you.
Where the number comes from
It’s simpler than it sounds. Everybody looks at the same question — will this happen? — and calls a side, Yes or No. Stack up all those calls and their weight lands somewhere: 67 leaning Yes, 33 leaning No. Always a hundred, because certainty only has so much to go around. That balance point is the price. Nobody typed it in.
And it breathes. The moment someone reads the question better than the room did — spots the thing everyone missed — they call it, and the number slides toward them. Enough people follow and the middle moves. It keeps moving, right up until the question settles and the room finds out who saw it clearest.
So the price isn’t a verdict handed down. It’s a live argument you can join — and the middle is just where the argument is resting this second.
Why we named everything after it
Majjha means the middle — as in the middle way, the old idea that the truest spot usually sits between two people who are each a little too sure. One side swears it’s happening. The other swears it isn’t. The honest answer is almost never 0 or 100. It’s somewhere in between, it moves, and finding it is hard.
That’s the whole game. Not picking a team and shouting. Finding the middle — and then, if you think the room’s parked it in the wrong place, saying so out loud and letting the outcome settle it.
