What is a forecasting game?

A forecasting game is a game of calling real questions — which way will this land? — before the world answers, scored on being right.

That’s the whole category. Will the rocket go up on schedule? Will the album finally drop this year? The transfer, the title race, the opening date — the world is already deciding every one of them. The game: commit to a side before the answer shows, then let the outcome check your work.

The scoring is what separates it from arguing. Anyone can hold an opinion; a forecasting game makes you say yours out loud before anyone knows the ending, and then it remembers. Right, and your record says so. A miss, and it’s a tough read — kept, same as the hits. Across enough questions, the score stops measuring luck and starts measuring how well you read the world.

And the good ones hand you something extra: a live number. Everyone’s calls pile into one figure sitting between Yes and No — what the whole room thinks, right now. It’s often the most interesting player in the game. Watch it move when news breaks and you’re watching a crowd change its mind in real time.

majjha.fun is one of these — a play-money prediction market: free, played with Dots, scored on your record. Our number has a name, the middle, and what the middle means is the full story of where it comes from and why nobody sets it.
